Overview
- The Server Deployment Engineer will perform the deployment and configuration of servers supporting the CCU refresh project.
- Manages day-to-day duties of troubleshooting server issues and working with vendors to resolve them.
High-Level Project Goals
- Support for the Classroom Connectivity Project of school server integration.
- Provide the QA, provisioning, deployment, and maintenance of server technologies in schools as part of the Classroom Connectivity project.
OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support for the Classroom Connectivity Tech Refresh Project for the Schools Server Integration in all five boroughs.
- Responsible for configuring two Windows 2019, 2022 Core physical servers and five virtual
- Servers (3 Windows VMs and 2 Linux VMs) per site. These servers provide infrastructure for Server
- Operations, NOC, SCCM, EMS and Security teams.
- To configure the Remote Access Card in both servers, configure Active Directory, and DNS resource records validation.
- Troubleshoot and provide support for DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, SNMP, TCP/IP, and WINS.
- Work experience with Windows Server configuration and management and strong PowerShell scripting experience.
- Develop, maintain, and upgrade scripts for system management and automation.
- Troubleshoot Hardware and Software problems during and after the server integration.
- Provides hardware assistance and performs testing on Servers.
- Documentation of all work effort to support server integration for sites.
- Responsible for maintaining a server deployment log and submitting a summary report to management each week.
- Interact with end-users and vendors to resolve logistic issues with equipment.
- Provide assistance with servers, LAN and network integration.
- Provides end-user support to different vendors by phone or on-site.
- Respond to support issues during the integration and after when needed.
- Create, track, and manage service requests and incidents using our CSM.
- Available to provide expertise and support for related issues that are outside the scope of the
- Classroom Connectivity Tech Refresh Project.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- The successful candidate must have minimally achieved the following level of experience:
- Minimum of 7 years experience supporting server upgrades (Latest Windows Operating System and hardware) that include installing Operating System, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 7 years experience with TCP/IP server/client communication, DHCP, DNS, WINS
- Minimum 3 years of experience utilizing scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, etc) for system administration
- Minimum of 7 years experience with installing Virtual Machine, configuration and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 3 years experience with Server Hardware troubleshooting
- Minimum of 3 years experience with network support with LAN troubleshooting
- Minimum of 3 years experience utilizing system management software tools to monitor,
- manage and report system performance, availability, and use; and to coordinate computer network access and use
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s degree in computer science/ telecommunications from an
- accredited college
- Certification: Server + / MCSE / Expert Knowledge in RedHat Linux
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization
- especially on technical issues to a non-technical audience.
